Porcelain vase with lava glazes

This vase was featured in the 2026 Edition of Art of Making Exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris. 

A unique hand-built porcelain vase. Over the course of a few days, I carefully layers coils of porcelain to create this beautiful piece. Once it survived the first firing at 960C, I glazed with my lava glaze. and added copper washes to create a beautiful effect.

Another two days in the kiln, reaching 1240C, and the minerals in the glaze melted and fused with the clay to create this unique beauty. 

The vase is functional and measures 12cm in width and 12cm in height. 

All the glazes are formulated and made by me.
